On Thursday March 6, 2014, we will be holding Special General Meeting at Christ Church (1700 Mazo Crescent ). At 7.20 PM we will enjoy refreshments and the meeting will begin at 7.30 PM.
PURPOSE IS TO DISCUSS:
(1) Potential New Membership Structure; and
(2) Temporary ORC Member Use

1. Welcome Members and Introduce Board of Directors
2. Motion to create Adult-Only Memberships (with a reduced annual fee).
Proposals for adult-only memberships have been talked about for several years and was raised again by a member at the 2013 AGM. This would help retain members as their children grow up and no longer use the pool. However, this is a change to our existing membership structure and we need to ensure that we don’t adversely affect our revenue.
The proposal is that we create 5 to 10 new memberships to be offered at a reduced annual fee for Adult-only memberships. This would allow up to 2 adults to use the pool during adult and family swim times and to participate in all social activities and any adult activities, but their children (if any) would be considered guests. This membership would not permit children to participate in lessons, swim team or other programs.
The new adult-only memberships will be made available only when all regular family memberships have been filled. For example, if an existing member were to take a new Adult-only membership, their regular family membership must be sold first. The Adult-only memberships would be offered to members first and then new members (if all regular family memberships are filled), on a first come, first served basis. This would ensure that the reduced Adult-only annual fee would be incremental revenue.
3. Member questions and discussion regarding the proposed Adult-Only Membership followed by vote on whether to create Adult-Only Memberships or not.
4. ORC’s Request and Potential Recommendations:
a. TRANSFERABLE PASSES: Issue 10 to 20 passes to ORC that they can sign out to their members for use during our Adult and Family swim times. A reasonable fee is to be negotiated with ORC.
PROS: Much needed revenue for capital work that will be needed in the near future. Attract potential new members.
CONS: Potential overcrowding, depending on how many passes we issue.
MITIGATION: The passes would not permit participation in our lessons or special events. Extra guards would be called in on very busy days.
b. SPECIAL ORC SUB-LETS: In addition, we are proposing that we could create up to 5 new special sub-lets to be offered to ORC members (for this year only).
Options to be discussed with ORD include: (i) charge the regular annual fee of $510, waive the $150 sublet fee, but lessons & swim team would not be included; or (ii) charge the annual fee of $510 and the $150 sublet fee and allow these sublet members to register each child for one set of lessons after May 15. Both options would ensure that member have priority to to lessons. Under each option, lessons would also be available in accordance with our non-member rules.
c. POOL RENTAL: ORC and/or their members can rent the pool when available subject to our non-member rules.
5. Member questions and discussion regarding the ORC Request and our recommendations.
6. Thank members for coming. Their input and participation is critical to the operation of the club.
